“Professor Tim Flannery is a mammalogist, palaeontologis and global warming activist. Flannery was named Australian of the Year in 2007 and is presently an adjunct professor at Macquarie University. His controversial views on shutting down conventional coal fired power stations for electricity generation in the medium term are frequently cited in the media. In late 2007, Tim Flannery suggested that some Japanese whaling in the southern oceans was sustainable, leading to concerns among some scientists and environmental groups, such as Greenpeace.
Flannery is also the chairman of the Copenhagen Climate Council, an international climate change awareness group.
